LAURION Mineral Exploration Inc. (TSX-V: LME | OTC: LMEFF | FSE: 5YD) has reported assay results from six drill holes completed as part of its 2026 Phase 1 diamond drilling program at the 100%-owned Ishkōday Gold and Polymetallic Project in Northwestern Ontario. The results, released via NEWMEDIAWIRE, include high-grade gold intersections that the company says will inform the next stage of exploration at the A-Zone.
The most notable result came from hole LBX26-117, which returned 1.80 metres grading 17.10 grams per tonne (g/t) gold and 9.24 g/t silver, including 0.80 metres at 31.50 g/t gold. The same hole also intersected a broader 10.05-metre interval of gold-bearing polymetallic mineralization deeper in the hole, grading 1.112 g/t gold, 2.12 g/t silver and 0.51% zinc. Hole LBX26-121, drilled from the same collar at a shallower angle, intersected 5.20 metres grading 1.067 g/t gold, 7.87 g/t silver and 1.11% zinc, as well as a separate 0.65-metre interval grading 6.240 g/t gold. Hole LBX26-116 returned 2.80 metres grading 2.261 g/t gold, 8.06 g/t silver, 0.15% copper and 0.10% zinc, and a wider 20.05-metre zone averaging 0.411 g/t gold, 3.76 g/t silver and 0.61% zinc.
In response to the results, LAURION increased its planned Phase 1 drilling from 3,865 metres to 5,605 metres across 22 drill holes. The expanded program is being guided by SRK Consulting’s independent structural gap analysis of the A-Zone, which identified five priority target areas where additional drilling may address gaps in the existing drill database and strengthen geological understanding. The six holes discussed in the release total 1,227 metres, and the company noted that this figure is not the total 2026 program metreage.
Drilling objectives varied by hole. LBX26-113 was designed as a twin of historical hole 92-65 to verify previously reported high-grade mineralization; the new assays returned lower grades than the historical results, and the company will evaluate the implications for its historical drill database. Holes LBX26-114A and LBX26-115 were targeted infill holes designed to refine interpretations of mineralization between earlier intersections, with LBX26-114A replacing LBX26-114 after the latter was abandoned due to an orientation issue. Holes LBX26-116 and LBX26-117 were drilled to improve understanding of mineralized horizons and their possible continuity, while LBX26-121 examined a different portion of the subsurface sequence from the same collar as LBX26-117. Interpretation diagrams for LBX26-113 and LBX26-121 were provided in the release.
President and CEO Cynthia Le Sueur-Aquin said the drilling is designed to address specific gaps identified by SRK Consulting, improve understanding of the continuity and geometry of mineralization between drill holes, and build a reliable technical foundation at the A-Zone. “We will continue to let the data guide our next steps,” she said. The company’s objective is to validate its geological interpretation and support the evaluation of a potential maiden Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE). Additional targets, sequencing and timing remain subject to ongoing results and available financing.
All core lengths are drilled thicknesses; true widths have not yet been determined.
