MAX Power Mining Corp. (CSE: MAXX; OTC: MAXXF; FRANKFURT: 89N) has announced a significant expansion of its natural hydrogen permit holdings in Saskatchewan, increasing the total to approximately 2 million acres across 12 projects. The company acquired provincial permits covering an additional 660,263 acres (2,672 square kilometers) in south-central Saskatchewan, representing a more than 50% increase in its permitted acreage.
The expansion includes the newly designated Aurora Project, a 628-square-kilometer area adjoining the Lawson project, creating a contiguous 90-kilometer corridor. This corridor is strategically located near highway, rail, heavy industry and emerging artificial intelligence infrastructure, offering potential for multiple natural hydrogen discoveries and commercialization pathways. Additional permits were secured at the Ogema and Kyle projects, while the Grasslands Project was expanded through the Fox Valley target area. The company also obtained additional permits at Lawson, Radville and Tribune.
Commercial-validation drilling continues at Lawson Complex #1, recognized as Canada’s first confirmed subsurface natural hydrogen system. MAX Power is working with independent consultant GLJ Ltd. to review data from the newly permitted areas. The company has built a dominant district-scale land position in Saskatchewan, with approximately 1.3 million acres (521,000 hectares) of permits covering prime exploration ground prospective for large-volume accumulations of natural hydrogen.
The expansion underscores MAX Power’s commitment to advancing natural hydrogen as a clean energy source. Natural hydrogen, also known as white hydrogen, is generated naturally in the Earth’s crust and can be extracted with minimal environmental impact. For the mining and energy industries, this development signals growing interest in natural hydrogen as a potential low-carbon fuel and feedstock. The proximity of the Aurora Project to infrastructure could reduce development costs and accelerate commercialization.
Beyond natural hydrogen, MAX Power holds a portfolio of critical mineral properties in the United States and Canada, including the Willcox Playa Lithium Project in Arizona, where a diamond drilling discovery was made in 2024. The company’s focus on responsible exploration and development practices emphasizes environmental stewardship and community engagement.
This expansion positions MAX Power as a key player in the emerging natural hydrogen sector, with implications for decarbonization efforts in heavy industry and energy production. For investors and industry stakeholders, the enlarged permit holdings enhance the potential for scalable natural hydrogen production in Saskatchewan.
