Andina Copper Corporation (TSX-V: ANDC | FSE: FIR | OTCQB: PMMCF) has announced further drill results from its Cobrasco project in Choco, Colombia, that extend shallow mineralization to the northwest. The company reported that drillhole CDH009, the fourth hole from a single platform, intersected 502 meters grading 0.40% copper, 73 ppm molybdenum, and 1.22 g/t silver from 38 meters downhole. The results confirm a significant northwesterly extension of the Cobrasco Central Cu-Mo mineralized system.
The current mineralized footprint at Cobrasco Central now measures approximately 1,200 meters by 550 meters, continuing to grow with successive step-out drilling. Mineralization remains open in all directions. Two additional drillholes, CDH010 and CDH011, have been completed from the same platform, with assays pending. Wide-spaced scout drilling is ongoing from a new platform located about 350 meters northwest of the previous site to assess the overall scale potential of the system.
The company noted that copper grades decrease at depth as the intensity of overprinting sericite alteration transitions to a lower-grade potassic-altered domain. However, mineralization persists to the end of CDH009 at 954 meters. The results validate Andina Copper's approach of systematic scout drilling to expand the envelope of porphyry Cu-Mo mineralization.
Joseph van den Elsen, President and CEO of Andina Copper, stated: "The results of hole CDH009 validate this approach, significantly extending shallow, near-surface copper-molybdenum mineralization 350m to the northwest." He added that all nine drill holes reported to date have returned wide intervals of high-grade, near-surface Cu-Mo mineralization, and that mobilization of a second diamond drilling rig will expedite continued exploration and evaluation of the Cobrasco Central system.
