Blue Lagoon Resources Inc. has announced the commissioning of its Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor (MBBR) system at the Dome Mountain Water Treatment Plant, designed to meet all regulatory discharge standards. The system, developed with SRK Consulting's principal environmental consultant Soren Jensen, can treat up to 400 liters per minute, far exceeding the current mine water output of 20-40 L/min, ensuring compliance and environmental stewardship as operations scale. Underground mining is scheduled to begin on September 24, 2025, starting with development work and aiming to ramp up to 100 tonnes per day within four weeks and 150 tonnes per day within twelve weeks. The company emphasizes that all mine waste will remain underground, aligning with its environmental commitments. A Mutual Aid Agreement with New Gold Inc. has been signed to enhance operational readiness and safety, providing access to emergency support if needed. The underground program will be led by Mike McCartin, an experienced underground mining geologist, with support from Roughstock Mining Services to establish mining protocols and standard operating procedures. President & CEO Rana Vig stated that this phase is transformational for Blue Lagoon, highlighting the fully permitted project's potential for near-term cash flow with minimized risk. Dome Mountain is one of only nine projects permitted in British Columbia since 2015, underscoring its rarity and the company's focus on responsible advancement with safety and environmental care at the forefront.
